Police seek suspect in shooting death

[Hopewell, VA] – On September 08, 2018, at approximately 1:00 am, officers responded to a call for service of a large disturbance outside of the Cambro’s Soul Food & Lounge located in the 200 block of E. Broadway. As officers were responding, information was received that multiple shots had been fired. Once on scene, officers located a single male victim who had sustained multiple life-threatening gunshot related injuries. The victim, later identified as Mr. Trevon White, Age: 22, of the City of Hopewell, VA, was transported to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment; however, on September 10, 2018, he succumbed to his injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred as a result of a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical one between multiple unidentified persons outside of the Cambro’s Soul Food & Lounge. Mr. White’s involvement in the altercations is still being investigated. At the time of the shooting, multiple persons were present and may have witnessed the homicide of Mr. White.
